The bulb of the garlic plant, used in very small quantities.
Why it turns up in dog food
- Carries sulfur compounds traditionally credited with immune and antiparasitic support. Safe at the small amounts used in dog food, though large quantities are not.

An ingredient on its own tells you very little.
