Poultry By-Product Meal

A concentrated meal rendered from poultry parts left after the flesh is removed, such as organs and frames, excluding feathers and feet.

Why it turns up in dog food

  • A concentrated protein made from poultry organ tissue, so it is rich in vitamin A, iron and B vitamins. Nutritionally sound, though quality varies between producers.
An ingredient on its own tells you very little. What matters is how much of it there is and where it sits in the list. That is why we weigh the top five rather than reacting to any single name further down. Back to the wiki
