Animal tissue broken down by enzymes into a concentrated liquid or powder, sprayed onto kibble as a flavor coating.
Why it turns up in dog food
- Very effective at making kibble palatable, which is why most dry foods use it. The generic name means the animal source is not disclosed.
An ingredient on its own tells you very little.
